Vietnam
Go-Mission’s outreach in Vietnam focuses on poor tribal villages in the mountains. These villages have high infant mortality rates because of contaminated water, malnutrition, and lack of medical care. We are responding to these needs by providing clean water, building sanitary bathrooms, providing livestock and new agriculture to grow, conducting medical seminars, and educating on health and nutrition.
Many children in these areas cannot attend school because their families cannot afford materials and fees. To secure education for these children, we began an educational sponsorship program. This program has flourished, growing from eight children to over 100 in several villages, ensuring their access to education and providing a future they could not attain before.
We engage with local leaders to find solutions to the effects of poverty and to create pathways to improve the quality of life. The results have been very successful: Education is now a priority in the villages we serve. Agricultural projects are producing increased food supplies. Villagers have access to clean water and sanitary bathrooms have improved hygiene and enhanced dignity. These villages are changing for the better, and we are honored to serve these people.
Current Projects:
Urgent Medical Care
There have been several medical crises with families in villages we are serving. These include a septic infection of one of our agricultural workers and severe burns on a seven-month-old baby requiring skin graft surgeries. Go-Mission provides transportation from the village area to hospitals equipped to care such needs and funds the medical care. The current need is $3,750.
Agricultural Development
Agricultural development has become one of our most strategic forms of outreach and is on its way to greatly enhance health and nutrition and to eradicate malnutrition in the areas we serve. We have completed the first phase with results far beyond our expectations. We are ready to implement Phase Two which is planting smaller fields of vegetables and fruit around groups of homes to provide for those families while continuing to impart more modern farming methods. Each project is approximately $1,500. We have four projects ready to begin, with a total need of $6,000.
University scholarship Fund and Vocational training
As we support a child’s education, we must pave the way for opportunities upon high school graduation. Seven sponsored students will be graduating next year. Two are already studying in the university. We must establish a fund to support post-high school education and vocational training. Project cost: $4,000.
Child Sponsorship
Sponsorship ensures a future for children that was not attainable before, providing for school fees, school uniforms, school supplies, and events for the children during the school year.
Sponsorship for one child is $20 monthly or $200 annually. Sponsors receive a profile of each sponsored child with picture and biographical information about his/her family and village. By becoming a sponsor, you will become a vital part of changing the life and the future of a precious child in Vietnam.
